For my birthday, I watched a movie, the Ron Clark Story, and I saw my reflection in the movie. Hehehe....
It's too funny to watch some of the scenes because I often use exactly the same words that he used in the movie to talk to my students. For example, I am quite over-the-top dramatic in the classroom and I always tell my students that I have six eyes with two behind my ears. I can see exactly what they are doing behind me or know what they are trying to hide. So, they are warned right from day one not to fool around but pay full attention in class. When the students get caught, it is so funny to see them act like deer that get caught in the headlight.
Ron is an amazing teacher. I read his first book, the Essential 55, in 2003. Now, the movie based on his story is on DVD and he also has a second book out. I highly recommend Ron Clark's books to all teachers out there who are dedicated and trying their best day in and day out. His books are motivational books for teachers and it is definitely a great read.
I am not an American. Obama is not my president. However, it is exciting for me to see a president with such charisma and inspirations to his people finally step into the centre stage. It will be a historical moment and I am glad to witness this moment. Will he be an excellent president as he has been cut out to be? I don't know because I have become so disappointed on politics. I’d rather channel my energy to education. I am just looking so much forward to some integrity, honesty and hope for the future of America. I know one thing for sure though; that is, it will be great for people of all races to look up to the event tomorrow and honestly say that anything is possible in the US of A. On the eve of the president inauguration, let’s be thankful that Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream has finally become true and let's pray for the good tide coming.
Hot pot or Shabu Shabu? However you want to call it, I don’t really care. I just know that it is not fun to have this hot pot all alone by yourself. I don’t usually have many opportunities to have a hot pot although I love it for a meal with a group of friends on a cold winter day. This morning I happened to have three friends over for a visit and I decided to have a hot pot for lunch. I didn’t want to cook a fancy meal right after my big New Year Dinner. Plus, I had another engagement to attend this evening and I did not want to spend too much time preparing for this lunch. So, what is the quickest and easiest work? Hot Pot!
What a great social event! We just talked while the pot of food was cooking. I happened to have some frozen ingredients and tons of condiments for the hot pot. We mixed peanut butter with some spices and created a really unique flavoured sauce. Yum! It did not take much time to prepare for this meal but it sure made the kitchen all messy. I didn’t care though because the food is more important here. (We have to get our priority straight here!) Last time when I had a hot pot was when I visited Taiwan last summer. Friends, comfort food such as a hot pot seems to be so trivial for you but it is all different here. It is a wonderful thing to me!!!! ^v^
I am trying out these two software, Movie Maker and Audacity. I have taught my students how to use these two software. They actually created their slide show with the Movie Maker. Here is my experiement on Pixnet. Now you can hear my scratchy voice.

A while ago, someone asked me to write about my dating stories. (Remember that, Jean?) My reply was, “You don’t want to know. They were pathetic.” The truth is they WERE pathetic indeed! People may think that I am just kidding. When we were at school, I probably organized more school dances and trips than anybody could have imagined. I had a group of good friends who always helped me out for the organization. They were there to fill the party dance floor and be the participants for the trips. When I was organizing a big event, I almost always needed to rally a group of faithful supporters to make the place look less empty. I guess it is like organizing a political protest; you just need to find a group of people who can carry the placards and shout loudly. (Hehehe….) So, there must be some interesting love encounters or courtships for me! Well, not exactly.

I have been so busy lately. When I am under pressure, it is always great to go to Yoga for some peace and quiet time. Music helps ease the tension from my physical stress.
