School Is Out!
The year is finally over. Due to the extreme heat for the last two
days, my room temperature was literally up to 42 degrees Celsius because of no
open air through the window, malfunction air vent and no sun-blocking curtain in the new room. We were all on the edge of breaking down because of the heat plus we all had a group of kids who looked extremely hot and sweaty in a stuffy classroom. We had a luncheon one day
and a movie day on the last day. My students voted to have luncheon and movie because of the many awards they have received. As a teacher, what can I say? I am just too proud of their accomplishment. Anyway, my friend did a slide show of photos she had taken at
school over the last year. It was so refreshing to see all the students at school popping up from one slide to another. Based on the photos she took, we did provide many
activities for our students, maybe too many! Hahahah.
During the slide show, one of the songs was played by a Hawaiian
singer, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, the gentle giant of
it so much that I got on YouTube ASAP to find it to share with
everybody. It is quite refreshing whenever I listen to this song.
I've also attached a short message I wrote on my MSN blog
at this time last year. My view has not changed, so here is the
short article I wrote.Enjoy the song.

Last Week of School Blue
A lot of people think that teachers have the greatest job in the
world because the schools are off for two months. I love teaching,
but I would not call it the "greatest" job in the world. This is my
third career change and I know for a fact that there are better
jobs out there. Teaching is a calling which is very difficult to
explain to others sometimes. I was good at my other jobs, but I
just know I want to teach.
For me, the summer is always my time to recoup, update and prepare
for the new school year. I am looking forward to the course I am planning to take
this July. For the staff at our school, we probably have to
go back to work early in mid August because of our planned
construction. We have to move classes out to the portables whenever
they arrive in the summer. Bummer.
