I visit other blogs often. Some of the blog friends are quite friendly and easy to communicate with. Lawrence’s blog is one of them. He openly welcomes my visit to his blog. The following is his latest article on the political scene. I totally understand the frustration and sentiments many people share in Taiwan. My reply to his latest article is too long to put in his comment box, so I posted it here just for a short while to share with him and all my readers.

The following is his article, http://blog.sina.com.tw/lawrencelin/article.php?pbgid=40275&entryid=572604,
and my passionate comments follow.

Dear Lawrence,

I totally agree with you. When we lay the bed, we will have to sleep in it, well at least,  for four years in this case. That is the consequence we have to pay in a democratic society. Taiwanese people voted the existing government in again four years ago, so we had to put up with this crap for another four years. Now it is finally time for Taiwanese as a collective to ask themselves, have the politicians done a good job governing Taiwan for the last four years? If not, let democracy be at work and vote them out!

Chinese like to talk about "relation and connection"! Just because so-and-so's brother's cousin's wife's uncle is a DPP and a good friend, it does not mean that so-and-so has to vote for DPP. We should vote for a capable and competent candidate who can truly work for the people in Taiwan. We ask for democracy in Taiwan, but have we been behaving like what democratic citizens should behave in a democratic society? Not really! How could we ask the United Nations or the world to take us seriously if the only news that comes out of Taiwan is politicians' fist fighting in the legislature and the President's scandal? Did people who voted them in give them the mandate to represent them and behave this way in the legislature? It is a farce in my view!

Some people voted for DPP because their family had been oppressed by KMT years ago, or some other people distrust DPP because their family are card-carrying KMTs. None-sense! Democracy is not a tool for "revenge” or “popularity competition”. Everyone should go to each candidate's platform meetings to understand what their mandate is. We should vote for the competent people who are truly going to work for us whether the candidate is a DPP or KMT. We certainly do not need those best actors and actresses for their Oscar "wrestling" performance in the legislature. It's embarrassing to see those nonsense and idiotic behavior "performed" at the Taiwanese parliament and legislature halls like a TV show. How could we have voted those people in? Can we put up with this crap any longer for another 4 years? As a tax-payer in Taiwan, everyone should stand up and demand respect by casting their vote. Enough is enough!

People voted against certain party because their great great grand father was oppressed. If we truly want democracy, we should know that a government only has the mandate to be in power for four years, unless they are REALLY good and you want to keep them in longer. If we honestly despise and hate the past martial law era in Taiwan, especially during “the White Terror” when people were oppressed by the KMT government. They claimed that Taiwanese did not have a voice to speak up for themselves, but then why are we choking ourselves now with our own FREE hands under the power of DPP? Has DPP met the passing grade as a governing party? Or, they are just behaving the same as the previous political power.

I grew up in that martial law era as well. Under the martial law, I would not be able to say what I am putting on this page right now. Democracy, however, does not mean I should oppose to everything that the previous political party did or discredit the good things the previous power did for the country. We need to focus on issues other than political parties.I think it is time for all Taiwanese to exercise their democratic right and pick somebody decent to represent Taiwan properly whether he/she is a DPP or KMT.

If we do not use the proper channel for democratic exercise, our voices will be oppressed and ignored again in the FUTURE for another four years. People don't seem to understand a government is to work for us, but not to sit in the legislature to fight with each other. If a politician can not behave like a well-mannered civil servant, then ban them according to the legislature rules and disciplines. We need people who can negotiate and make law, not fist-fight and break the law in the holy democratic hall.

Sorry, Lawrence, I took up such a big space, so I decided to move it back here to my blog. I am very passionate when it comes to politics. I am a loud spokesperson for Taiwan, the country I love passionately. Although I don't live in Taiwan currently, all my friends and family are still there. I am not directly involved in politics, but it does not mean I am dead senseless about Taiwan's political status and future on the world's stage. Unfortunately, I am really sick and tired of those politicians who do not have Taiwan's future in mind. I am also very disappointed with citizens who cast votes only because of their flag carrying color. I am neither pro blue nor pro green. I can care less about the red, blue, green or purple. How about putting our best interest first!

PS, Lawrence and all readers, I am sorry that I have to use such a strong language to express my frustration. For younger viewers, don't try some of these language at school. Hahahaha.
